Removing the rear bearing spring clip.
So here’s video number four for frontloadbearings.com. And what we’re gonna do now is get this spring clip taken out from above the rear bearing. Now this could be a little bit of a pain to get out. So what i suggest you do is have yourself a screwdriver and you’re also going to need a spring clip removal tool. You can do it just with a pair of screwdrivers getting hold of these. Just really watch your hands if you do it that way. You can get it out, but the tendency to want to slip and scratch your knuckles is real. You can get these from Harbor Freight (the tool/hardware store) for about five bucks. Anyway, this is an old set that I’ve had for ages and they’re pretty worn so we’ll see how we go with them. You can see right here, there’s two eyes in the spring clip. We’re gonna put this in right here & see if I can pinch that together. You can probably see that spring clip wanting to move there. You need to bare with me as I’m doing this at a very weird angle so you guys can see so, once you get this compressed you wanna get your screwdriver and see if you can get part of it to lift up for you. Come on… I’m hoping I’m not gonna slip off here… come on… it’s coming… oh, I lost it. You can see how much fun you can have of this as well. Alright, let’s go again here, get it down even... come on, out you come… Now if there’s any swearing to be done, this is about the only place of the whole exercise that you’re gonna be doing it. I’m trying to keep my head out of the light and get this puppy out of here. Also, it helps if you have brand new these spring clip removal tools because this one is worn to pieces because I’ve used it so many times. There we go, I’ve got it at last! Now we’ve got the one side of it out , let’s see if i can keep it there and go around and there is your spring clip.
Don’t worry too much if you did break this. You don’t have to have it in place. Actually, when the pulley is on, it will hold the rear bearing in place but there it is anyway. Just so you know where it goes on the inside of this metal housing here there’s a groove, and that’s where your spring clip goes in to.
Alright, on the next video, we’re gonna split the tank. Thanks very much. Cheers!
